Pierre Sterckx made extensive use of the Hergé Museum archives as he researched this work. The author presents the evolution of Hergé's work, from the simplicity of his first drawings to the pinnacle of his clear line style, from his first attempts at colour to the mastery of his final full-colour pages. Zephyrum Ediciones. Collector Edition Zephyrum Ediciones limited to 150 numbered copies.

This collectible edition is presented in a beautiful cloth case and is accompanied by a lithograph of 27.5x22.5cm that reproduces the illustration of the vignette of coloring test, page 31 of the album Land of Black Gold (1950), drawn by Hergé in watercolor on proof of print. From the Hergé Studios collection. The lithograph has been printed in four colors on Steinbach paper of 250gr. in the workshops of the historic Artoos / Hayes printing press in Brussels (founded in 1780).

Sterckx also unveils a lesser-known side to Hergé, looking at the painters and artists that inspired the creator of Tintin: contemporaries such as Fontana, Poliakoff, Warhol and Lichtenstein. Hergé was a passionate collector of work by these artists.
