Paperblanks collectible bookmark Gustav Klimt: The Kiss. Design on both sides. Rounded corners. Dimensions: 4x18,5cm.
Gustav Klimt (1862–1918) was an Austrian symbolist painter fascinated by Japanese art, decorative techniques as well as the female form. He was the best-known member of the Viennese Secession, an art movement dedicated to supporting new, unconventional artists and introducing foreign influences into their work. Klimt traveled to Venice and Ravenna, marveling at the mosaics that later inspired his use of gold and Byzantine images.
Rumor has it that The Kiss (1907–1908) shows Klimt and his companion, Emilie Louise Flöge, in a loving embrace. This work has become one of the most famous paintings in the world and represents the pinnacle of Klimt's Golden Cycle. Oil and golden leaves mix to create sinuous shapes and colors reminiscent of artisan style and Art Nouveau. The vibrant palette and finely crafted motifs make this painting one of the greatest masterpieces of the early modern period.
