The Quest for the Time-Bird (La Quête de l'oiseau du temps) is a Franco-Belgian heroic fantasy comic book series, first published in 1983. Its screenplay was written by Serge Le Tendre, and the drawings were created by different artists, depending on the cycles, or even the different volumes within a cycle. Régis Loisel illustrated the four volumes of the first cycle. For the second cycle, Lidwine illustrated volume 1, then Mohamed Aouamri volume 2, and Vincent Mallié volumes 3 and 4. The colors were also successively the work of several artists. For the first cycle, Yves Lencot was responsible for volume 1, then Laurence Quilici for volume 2, and Régis Loisel for volumes 3 and 4. He also illustrated volume 1 of the second cycle, followed by François Lapierre for volumes 2 and 3.
A mystical figure from The Quest for the Time-Bird, Fol de Dol embodies a power as unpredictable as it is fascinating.
Spirit of the Dol River, endowed with great powers, he presents himself as an enigmatic “master of the river,” speaking in rhymes and subjecting travelers to his riddles. Neither ally nor enemy, he grants his help to those who can answer… and unleashes the river's force upon those who fail.
This statue captures all the strangeness of the character, balancing apparent madness with hidden wisdom — a true test of the mind, in the guise of a whimsical minstrel.
