The French Internationals, or Roland-Garros tournament, or more simply Roland-Garros by metonymy, is an annual clay-court tennis tournament, created in 1891 under the name French Tennis Championship, in its current form since 1925, and held since 1928 in Paris, at the Roland-Garros stadium.
For the 2026 edition, Roland-Garros partners with contemporary artist JR for a historic collaboration. Globally renowned for his monumental installations and black and white portraits, JR transposes his art of the ephemeral and the human onto the clay court, offering a work of rare visual power.
In this exclusive creation, JR subverts the tournament's codes by integrating his iconic signature: the gaze. Through a spectacular collage, the artist creates a bridge between the spectator and the athlete, transforming the central court into a stage where raw emotion can be read in every detail. By playing on the striking contrasts between photographic black and white and the vibrant ochre of the clay, this poster captures the soul of Roland-Garros like never before.
